ArkeoTopia’s missions and activities

ArkeoTopia is open to everybody, not just for professionals from the archaeology and patrimony fields. Here is a summary of our 5 main themes to help you learn more about our missions and activities. We hope that this introduction will encourage you to join the association to support or even participate in our projects. All our articles are categorized by ArkeoTopia’s 5 valued pillars: Popularize, Train, Support, Defend, and Research.

Science popularization

  • Arkaeo Secrets and ArkaeoKids for the educational branch, with science and cultural workshops for children and teenagers.
  • Providing teaching aids with the Augustin’s World collection which consists of the activity workbook My Archaeology Book, Augustin’s archaeological adventures, and additional free resources.
  • The ArkaeOdysseys, discovery tours of museums and cultural areas, as well as surprises in and outside of Paris.
  • Conferences to learn more about human History through artistic and technical productions.
  • ArkeoTopia is involved in scientific and cultural events whether they be on a local scale (Été Solidaire du 7ème), a national scale (Fête de la science), a European scale (European Heritage Days, European Researchers’ Night), or an international scale (National Archaeology Day).

General teaching and professional training

  • ArkaeoCenter for archaeology and art history classes, for both individuals or groups
  • Guidance regarding courses and further studies for middle schoolers, high schoolers, and college students
  • ArtKaeo for individual or group art classes

Conducting archaeological research

ArkeoTopia and some of its members are involved in research programs (archaeological survey, programmed excavation, studying artifacts etc.), take part in colloquiums, and organize Meetings around European Archeology (MEA)

Supporting research

With the resources in its possession, ArkeoTopia contributes to research efforts by helping with proofreading articles, digitizing, studying artifacts, field intervention, etc.

Defending the importance of archaeological research

Through its own actions (Arkethics project), as well as actions undertaken in partnership with private or public organizations (expert assessments for the French National Organization for Standardization – AFNOR), ArkeoTopia contributes to defending the interests of archaeological research in France and worldwide.
