Support archaeological research
Like any scientific discipline, archaeology requires significant financial and human investment. To the best of its ability, ArkeoTopia contributes to the research effort. We believe that small collective actions can lead to advances in science.
We encourage everyone to take part in both simple and complex tasks to enrich archaeological knowledge.
Since its creation, ArkeoTopia has supported both research and its promotion. Discover our latest initiatives and articles.

Our support initiatives
Since May 2007, our activities have included the following actions:
- Proofreading articles and monographs in archaeology (spelling, grammar, content) for scientists at the Musée de l’Homme and the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS)
- Publishing papers from scientists and sharing them online in the Publications section
- Connecting professionals based on the need expressed by organizations and ArkeoTopia’s contacts. For example, connecting a Gallo-Romanist with the Coulommiers Museum for their inventory needs
- Digitizing or retouching images, analyzing materials (assigning functions to artifacts for the Artefacts program led by Michel Feugère – CNRS)
- Seeking partners for research projects (searching for laboratories and industrial companies to assist with the study of Paleolithic cordage led by Christopher Kilgore ; Artefacts program with the Ministry of Culture leading the Joconde catalog and the European program Ariadne)
- Logistics such as helping with the setup and takedown of equipment for occasional events (Asnep association for Heritage Days; assisting with the organization and execution of the French Wiki Loves Monuments contest)
- Representing archaeology in local projects (hosting the Wikimedia French booth), national projects (archaeologists presenting a paper on the Artefacts project at the EAA and reporting on French work at international conferences), and European projects (administrator helping with French representation in the Disco project)
- Enriching knowledge bases like Wikipedia with our WikiTopia party workshops
- Assisting with the communication of actions contributing to research (helping create the flyer presenting the Artefacts program ; article about the European Association of Archaeologists in the french Archeologia magazine ; presence at WikiData workshops and dissemination on social media) or its promotion (training workshops within the framework of WikiTopia party)
- Funding to facilitate training actions related to archaeology (equipment for Mylène Trouillet’s Master’s thesis)
- Advising on the implementation of research tasks (experimental protocol, writing an excavation report, writing a scientific article, taking photos for scientific purposes, etc.), promotion tasks (setting up exhibitions), and project management for volunteer archaeologists and associations (Fortunes de mer calédoniennes, Pandrata Circle)
